Vivian A. Spoelman
Vivian A. Spoelman With the encouragement of her dad, starting at the age of twelve, she developed a love of writing, all types of genres.
Vivian has penned three children’s books for the elementary crowd. Speaking at Young Author Weeks throughout the Midwest, she found her niche. As a former Montessori/elementary teacher, then a high school teacher, she wanted to share her experiences from a young, troubled childhood. As the years went by, through her long journey, she found that sharing freely with others was a joy. In a form of self-therapy, she wrote a thriller, loosely based on her life.
Once Vivian found her words, she went on to share intimate essays about her strong faith. As time went on, she found within herself a love for sharing the Good News with those in need of a listening ear and compassion in their most devastating times. Striving to be an Ambassador for Christ, Vivian has followed a path of a medical background, teaching, loss, and the silence of Jesus within her heart. Through God’s plans, all of these situations have become blessings in her life and have stirred her to a life of self-giving, with compassion, presence, and a walk in God’s footsteps toward a “Road Leading to Chaplaincy.

My Road to Chaplaincy
My Road to Chaplaincy by Vivian A. Spoelman is a deeply reflective memoir that explores how faith can emerge from pain and personal struggle. When the author rediscovers journals from her childhood, she is drawn into confronting memories of family dysfunction, emotional abuse, and a life lived in silence beneath a composed exterior.
Revisiting these experiences as an adult allows her to better understand how trauma shaped her identity and spiritual path. Through reflection, forgiveness, and trust in God, she finds healing and purpose. The book ultimately reveals how this journey prepared her for chaplaincy—a sacred calling grounded in empathy, compassion, and the ability to walk alongside others in their suffering.
